Volleyball Lady Warriors move to 4-2 in district play
The Ft. Bluff gym was full of energy Tuesday evening (Aug. 30) as the home standing Rhea County Academy Lady Warriors took on the Tennessee Christian Lady Hawks in the opening match of a volleyball tri-match. The Lady Warriors got out to an early lead and cruised to an easy 25-8 victory in the first set but were brought back down to earth in a hard fought 23-25 loss in the second set. The determining third set saw both teams struggle with consistent serving and ended with the Lady Hawks holding on for the 15-12 victory.
The Lady Hawks defeated the Cleveland Christian Lady Crusaders in the second match to set up the district match of the night between the Lady Warriors and the Lady Crusaders. The first set started with the teams staying even through the first 9 points but then the Lady Warriors raised their level of play and ran away with a 25-15 victory. The second set started in a similar fashion with the teams tied at 6 but once again the Lady Warriors elevated their level of play to close out the match with a 25-12 victory.
With the victory over Cleveland Christian, the Lady Warriors move to 4-2 in the Southern Christian Athletic Association South District after having previously defeated Mt. View Christian twice and Dogwood Christian once. Both of their losses were suffered to district leading Collegedale Academy.
The next home volleyball match (held at Ft. Bluff) will be at 5pm on September 13 against the second place Oakwood Christian Eagles.
